WTF! Regular plates just should not be allowed. Isn’t there some unwritten rule across the US that cops at least have to have government plates? Give some way of avoiding the revenue collectors...

Fuck this and fuck the government that’s doing this.

IF that’s a real cop.

whenever I see explorer or taurus, I assume undercover cop.

cops here have been so damn sneaky. No state trooper here has any markings on their damn cars that say police. Grey taurus = state trooper. Live with it.

They also drive late 90s early 2000s expeditions as under cover. Crown vics still roam. I don’t even know anymore. Everyone is a cop. I think you might be an undercover cop

Good. That’s the idea, catch people doing stuff that they wouldn’t necessarily in a marked vehicle.

I t’s like cameras, if you know they could be anywhere watching you, your more likely to toe the line.

Did it have DRLs up front? I’ve noticed that’s sometimes the only thing left to identify a police car vs a civilian one. But even then, I just default to the speed limit when I catch an Exploder or a Charger in my rearview.

I honestly don't remember. He pulled a u-turn on the highway and I was focused on slowing to a legal speed

I mean he pulled the semi over into a weigh station so I'd say real. Might have been some sort of truck enforcement division cause he wasn't interested in my 90mph ass

I’m sure he was, but if I had that in my rear view, I might have called 911 to verify. Wouldn’t want it to be some psycho faking it.

You said he wasn’t interested in you doing 90mph.

T he action of tricking someone into committing a crime in order to secure their prosecution.

If your speeding and he catches you doing it, that’s on you.

The only entrapment would be if he was alongside bating you to go faster but even then, it’s up to you as the driver of what you and your passengers do. He could bate you, but it’s on you to take the bate.

The old saying, ‘if I told you to jump off a cliff, would you!?’.

People shouldn’t just obey the law if and when they choose or if they see a police car.

Aaaarrghhhh. I hate that. ‘revenue collectors’.

I got a speeding ticket!

Were you speeding?

Yes, but they are just revenue collectors!.

Don’t want a speeding ticket, don’t speed!

Don’t want a ticket for talking on your phone while your driving , don’t talk on the phone while driving!

In short, don’t want a ticket for breaking a law, a law you are fully aware of!?

DON’T DO IT!!!!!

If you were falsely giving a ticket, then yes, but then you contest it.

How many on OPPO alone have had accidents in the last few months because others were driving distracted, speeding, talking on the phone, jumping a light, etc...

I’m 90% positive that if a car hit you or someone was being an idiot on the road, you’d be saying, ‘and where is the police while this is happening!?’.

yeah but for public safety cop cars should have some sort of markings to identify themselves as a cop. any loon can throw red and blue lights on a used explorer or crown vic and start pulling people over. especially in this country where you don’ t know if the person trying to pull you over has a firearm. and yes you could just say you call 911 to verify the person pulling you over is actually a cop but wouldn’t it just be easier to have something as simple as government plates?

But the point of the ‘ revenue collectors’ label is that unmarked cars do nothing to make people safer or reduce speeding. It only colelcts revenue.

Actual speed reduction comes through highly visible police presence. Parked cars and big lights. Additionally, the fine is less of a motivator to change behavior than the points that risk a loss of license. It’s unnecessary, except under the purpose   of balancing budgets. And this bit :

How many on OPPO alone have had accidents in the last few months because others were driving distracted, speeding ,.[...]

Speeding? Someone had an accident because someone else was speeding? That sounds like a wacky set of circumstances .

And most importantly, speed doesn’t kill.

Stopping and fining over small infractions on already arbitrary limits is not helping. If every dime collected from moving violations went back into improved driver education drivers would actually be safer.

Yeah, because that’s the first thing people look for when they are pulled over- to make sure the small license plate  in their rear view mirror is their local government plate.

Ye’, I give you that. If your country has got them then yes, from the aspect you state.

Here was have unmarked vehicles for different reasons.

Northern I reland police, not always a good idea to park a marked vehicle outside someones house

They catch you doing the stupid thing.

How many drive over the limit or while doing something, see a police car, and slow down or stop doing the other thing you know y ou shouldn’t be doing, only to go back to doing it once you think your out of eye shot/range of the police car.

If they catch you in unmarked vehicles doing something, it puts in your mind that any other vehicle on the road could be an unmarked vehicle.

I think the speeding one was someone traveling too fast to stop.

How many times have you yourself said in the last month, ‘look at that idiot-driving too fast, -driving erratically, -hogging the left lane, etc...

This isn’t something someone is expected to fail, don’t want a ticket, don’t do it. That’s not, don’t do it when the police are around, just, don’t do it.

Call them revenue collectors all you want, but your the one generating it.

If your local authority is using the money for anything other than public safety on the roads (ie signage, pothole repairs, etc...), then it’s up to you to demand change.

TBH I’d have to be damn sure it was an actual cop before I pulled over, that is my main problem with unmarked cars. There are enough bad people out there that you better be careful.
